Clean up the ornamental gardens at Eden Gardens State Park- 9 a.m. to 12 Noon
The Department of Environmental Protection’s Eden Gardens State Park invites everyone to participate in National Public Lands Day cleanup of the historic ornamental gardens. The gardens, featuring azaleas and camellias, and the rose and butterfly gardens are very important traits of our park and we strive to keep them as beautiful as possible. Parking within the park is very limited so if you are part of a larger group, please consider carpooling. Additionally, everyone should be aware that the ground is rough in some places. Sturdy shoes, sunscreen and proper attire are recommended. Children are welcomed and encouraged to volunteer with a parent. Volunteers are welcome to stay in the park following the cleanup to enjoy picnicking and playing so bring your families to volunteer and make a day of it. Water will be provided for all who attend. Please come join us for the morning and RSVP so we can have enough supplies for all volunteers.

Beach clean up at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park – Time: 8:45 a.m. to 12 Noon
The Department of Environmental Protection’s Topsail Hill State Park invites you to join us for National Public Lands Day. With the summer tourist season winding down this is a perfect opportunity to clean up the beach. Park at the main day use parking lot and ride the tram down to the beach access (Tram station 3). We will provide you with gloves and trash bags. Please arrive before 9 a.m., the tram leaves promptly on the hour. Sunscreen and water are recommended.

Forest clean up at Grayton Beach State Park – 8:30 a.m. – 12 Noon
The Department of Environmental Protection’s Grayton Beach State Park would like to invite the public to participate in a forest clean-up. In the days prior to county’s having landfills for the disposal of garbage, local communities either burned their trash or dumped it in area’s of secluded forest that would one day become part of our nations and states public lands. The staff of Grayton Beach State Park would like to invite the public to participate in cleaning up one of these dump sites. Participants will meet at the ranger station and walk out to the site to be cleaned. Participants are asked to wear/bring the following: hat, sunscreen, long pants, insect repellant, and closed toe shoes or work boots. Bottled water will be provided.
